Dead Rising is a zombie-killing action game. Dead Rising was first released in 2006, the game favored the sandbox style which you easily get very goofy if you desired. I was so surprised when I came to know about Capcom's decision to not only revive the series but also to rebuild the first game from the ground up. After playing the game for 72 hours I can predict that the game seems to be everything that I wanted from the long-awaited return of this classic franchise.
As we mentioned above rebuild, but let's make it clear that the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is not a rebuild but it is a remaster. Because the story of the protagonist Frank West will remain unchanged. You are still Frank who is a brave freelance photojournalist who goes to a small town in Colorado. He has to spend three days in a zombie-infested mall. At the same time, he is also trying to find out what caused the breakout.
The Deluxe remaster has been rebuilt using the RE engine. The game provides more realistic lighting, better facial expressions, better animations, and more detail throughout the mall. The thing that I loved about these two games was the mix of bright and vibrant environments and the huge crowd of zombies. Some new adjustments of adding more detail to the environment will give the mall new energy and excitement. The Willamette Parkview Mall was so detailed, vibrant, and bright that I often found myself stopping just to take a closer look at all the changes to the familiar places.
A Better Quality-of-Life in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster:
Besides the graphics of the game, the gameplay is also improved. The combat of the game is overhauled. Now, you can move while aiming. This ability to move and aim might be very helpful while using some firearms available in the game. The smoother combat and the ability to aim while walking, make your gaming experience much better.
We cannot always play offense against zombies. Sometimes they grab us. The moment when they grab us, the Deluxe remaster has made it easier for Frank to shake them off. In the Deluxe Remaster, you can just smash a button to get the zombie off of you, instead of twirling the joystick. The skills in the game have also been improved, and the skill can be performed easily. The skill that I was happy to see was for Flying Dodge. This new skill will help Frank in evading large groups of zombies without getting hit.
The control scheme has also been upgraded in the game. But the new controls will definitely take some time to get used to. If you really miss the old controls, you can revert to the ''classic controls'' that mimic the 2006 original. However, if you revert to the old controls, you'll definitely lose the ability to move while aiming.
Dead Rising also provides the freedom to the players. You can do the main story mission but skip the story and just run around the mall, kill the zombies, and do the side missions.
The game will be available on 8 November 2024 for Play stations, Xbox series, and PCs.
